Harmony House, Inverloch, Victoria

The challenge for the owners of Harmony House was to create a home on a moderate budget and to use modern, passive design features to reduce the family’s overall environmental footprint. They were strongly motivated to solely rely on on-site renewable energy and not use fossil fuel energy from the grid in the day-to-day running of the house. The owners’ objective was to create a home that could heat and cool itself and produce its own energy, selecting building materials and systems which required little to no maintenance. Rammed earth’s natural thermal properties and maintenance-free attributes made it a perfect fit for this beautiful and incredibly eco-conscious project.
